Green Trinitite Atomic Glass Display Collection [78998]

Trinitite is also known as atomic glass and Trinity glass. This authentic trinitite is the color green. This professional display contains an in-color photo of the first atomic bomb detonated on July 16, 1945. Robert Oppenheimer was the director of the Los Alamos lab and supervised the blast, the first that the world had ever seen.

This Riker display features Oppenheimer's quote from the Bhagavad Gita. The section reads, “If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One...I am Become Death, the Shatterer of Worlds...”

This one-of-a-kind display contains Trinitite, the byproduct of the blast, and is a nuclear glass produced by the heat and intensity of the explosion. The mushroom cloud formed within seconds of the detonation and penetrated the atmosphere for 50 miles in the first seven minutes. The yield was estimated to be equivalent to 25 kilotons of TNT.

Display size: 8 1/4" L X 6 1/4" W X 3/4" D. The size of the disk is 1 1/8" diameter.
