Large Specimen Trinitite Green Black 4.12 gm
This is a green Trinitite specimen with minor black. Green is the most common color found in Trinitite. Trinitite is the glassy residue left on the desert floor after the Trinity atomic bomb test on July 16, 1945, near Alamogordo, New Mexico. This particular specimen was legally collected in 1948.
Specimen Details
This large Trinitite is green and black, with the following dimensions:
- Size: 30mm L x 25mm W x 8mm D
- Weight: 4.12 grams

Varieties of Trinitite
Many different types of Trinitite have been identified, with green being the most common. Black and red Trinitite contain iron from the tower structure. Red varieties also contain copper from the 'gadget' or the communication cables leading away from the test site. The presence of iron in Trinitite is attributed to the steel tower that held the bomb, as well as "Jumbo," the steel canister that housed the device.
The official environment in which Trinitite formed included sand, copper, iron/steel, and indigenous minerals present in the ground during the atomic blast.
Authenticity and Regulations
All of our Trinitite specimens have been verified as authentic. Orders are shipped in compliance with Section 13 from part 40 of the NRC Nuclear Regulatory Commission rules and regulations, as well as Postal Service regulations specified in 49 CFR 173.421, governing the activity limits of low-level radioactive materials.
We ensure all shipments comply with U.S. Federal regulations, and our Trinitite is intended solely for educational and scientific purposes. Notice: Do not inhale, ingest, or wear as/in jewelry.
