This shatter cone came from the Steinheim crater, in Germany. Originally it was thought that the Steinheim crater was the same age as the Nördlinger Ries impact crater. In 2020 it has now been assessed to be younger by some 500,000 years, at an estimated age of 15.1 mya.
Shatter cone size: 83mm H X 90mm W X 50mm. Weight: 419 grams.
This shatter cone has great color and form, ranging in colors from white to tan, to dark reddish tan.
