Who would have thought spessartine crystals woult be found in Antarctica? This specimen from Otratnaja Nunatak, Northern Gruber Mts., Queen Maud Land, Antarctica, has a natural sprinkling of orange-brownish spessartine garnets. The matrix is albite and quartz. The bright, lusterous gemmy crystals are 0.5mm in size.
