Rheniite is an exceedingly rare mineral, as there are only two known valid mineral species containing this element on Earth. It was first found in active hot fumaroles on the slopes of the Kudriavy Volcano, Russia (a remote volcanic chain of islands stretching south west from the tip of Kamchatka). It was the first accredited mineral, in 2004, to contain rhenium.
Rheniite's rarity puts it on the list of one of the most rare minerals in the world.
This rheniite mineral specimen from this classic Russian locality has a great abundance of rheniite crystals scattered throughout and are easily seen.
The specimen size is: 17mm L X 12mm W X 12mm D; XRF Included!
If you are looking for a low budget but a great specimen of rheniite from this very remote location, you have found it!
Ships with information, a Certificate of Authenticity, tag, tag stand and XRF.
Great addition to any rare minerals collection.
