This is an exceptional, large manganese nodule from the Pacific Ocean floor. These polymetallic nodules are authigenic deposits composed principally of manganese oxides. They are enriched in Fe and Co, Ni, and Cu.

They occur in all the world's oceans but are generally found in areas where sediment accumulation rate is slow. They often form around a core material, such as a shell fragment or something else.

Size: 63mm L X 57mm W X 36mm D, Weight: 78.3 grams; Location: Clarion-Clipperton Fracture Zone, Pacific Ocean floor.

This is an absolutely premium manganese nodule for its large size! It ships with XRF analysis, tag, tag stand, and information about polymetallic manganese nodules with the Certificate of Authenticity. Acrylic display base and photo cube are not included.

This specimen was obtained directly from a scientific institution. Manganese nodules are an important focus for possible future mining the ocean floors.
