This polymetallic manganese nodule is large and well formed. It has exceptional mammillations and the back reveals the dynamics of its internal structure. Manganese nodules of this size have a difficult time staying intact, due to the turbulence of the "mining" process.

Manganese nodules are the most widespread undersea mineral resource, composed mainly of manganese minerals and are found in lumps of varying sizes.

Size: 57mm H X 55mm W X 36mm D, Weight: 60.5 grams

Rare metals and important elements have been found in manganese nodules discovered on various ocean floor systems throughout the world. The following elements have been demonstrated to be present: manganese, iron, silicon, aluminum, nickel, copper, cobalt, oxygen, hydrogen, barium, potassium, titanium, other rare earths and tellurium. The estimated age of these nodules is approximately 2.5 million years old.

Our manganese nodules were obtained in a scientific materials trade with a major university.

This polymetallic nodule ships with a Certificate of Authenticity, tag, tag stand and information about the specimen. Large acrylic stand and photo cube are not included.

A professional XRF elemental assay metallurgical laboratory printout analysis is included with this order. The XRF analysis is consistent with other manganese nodules coming from the Clarion-Clipperton fracture zone.

Here is an opportunity to add a significant specimen to your geological collection!
