Polymetallic Manganese Nodule, 57118, is from the Clarion-Clipperton Fracture Zone and is a nice sized specimen. It has interesting features that are "classic." The pictures are of the front and back. Front and side is mammillated with the back having a really nicely defined core. Very unique specimen!
Manganese nodules are the most widespread undersea mineral resource, composed mainly of manganese minerals and are found in lumps of varying sizes.

Size: 48mm L X 38mm W X 34mm D, Weight: 38.9 grams
Rare metals and important elements have been found in manganese nodules discovered on various ocean floor systems throughout the world. The following elements have been demonstrated to be present, many of them strategic elements of industry. They include: manganese, iron, silicon, aluminum, nickel, copper, cobalt, oxygen, hydrogen, barium, potassium, titanium, rare earths, tellurium and a more. The estimated age of these nodules is approximately 2.5 million years old.
Our manganese nodules were obtained in a scientific materials trade with a major university.
This polymetallic nodule ships in a perky protective case with a Certificate of Authenticity, tag, tag stand and information about the specimen.
Cube and plexiglass base are not included but available on Amazon.
A professional XRF elemental assay metallurgical laboratory printout analysis is included with this order. The XRF analysis is consistent with other manganese nodules coming from this region.
Here is an opportunity to improve your scientific collection with one of the greatest geological wonders from the ocean floor.
