Buntsandstein conglomerates are found in the Rubielos de la Cérida Impact Basin, northern Spain. These conglomerates are found sporadically littering the countryside in this area. They are special because they show shock spallation skid marks across their surface that can usually be easily seen.
Such deformations at this level in rocks can only be attributed to the power of a meteorite impact event, causing an overburden of pressure. This type of action leaves behind tell-tale signs of punctuated wear and friction marks, that makes each cobble different, special, and a reminder of the power of a meteorite impact.

This specimen is superb and shows lots of features and would make a very interesting contribution to a world impacts collection.
